It’s Official!

Okay, I know it was actually official January 1st, but this past week we erected our new company sign, so it really feels official now!

How stressful and exciting these past few weeks have been. We are still finding things we need to tie loose ends up on, and you think of something almost everyday that you need to do or change, but it will all be worth it in the end. Please bear with us for the next few weeks as all of our bugs get worked out! In the mean time, we will continue to give you the attention and customer service you expect and deserve!

Along with the new sign, we also have a new office mascot!

For me, it’s the most wonderful time of the year. It’s college football season! There is nothing like going to a college game. People are happy, excited, and ready to cheer their team on. It’s the sights, sounds and smells of tailgating. The games being played, friendly banter, and I have noticed more over the past few years, people’s tailgating getting more elaborate. We are talking car magnets, banners, wrapped mini buses and tailgate trailers. I see more of it every year.

I had the pleasure this past Saturday of spending the day with my best friend and her family at the Iowa State football game. This is always a great time. Her dad is a fanatic! The man will leave at 3:00AM (it’s only a 2 hour drive to Ames) to get in line so he gets his favorite tailgating spot. This year he has aquired the name “Cyclone Doug”. Love it! The food and hospitality are top notch, and I can’t think of anywhere else I would want to tailgate.

The Matthies Family Tailgate!

On our drive to Ames, we saw the usual car flags on vehicles going to the game. That’s great, but the new way to show your spirit, is really dressing up your vehicle, trailer, or rv. We saw a tailgate trailer with “Mobile Man Cave” decaled on the side of the trailer. The ideas in my head started to spin! There were buses with the homemade paint job, next to buses that were professionially wraped with Cyclone spirit! Awesome! I saw an rv that had a custom giant Cy decaled on the back to match it’s paint. Sweet! There were custom vehicle magnets, and a lot of banners telling you whose tailgate you are passing by.

Whether it’s college, high school, or pro teams, it is now possible to show your team spirit as an individual, and not break the bank. Be bold and daring! Get noticed! Give us a call at Rose City (800-316-9122) or visit us on our website (www.rosecitysigniowa.com), and let us get you going in the right direction. We would love to help you show your spirit!

Celebrate Independence Day the Vinyl Way!

I love this time of year. I drive through the small towns in my area and houses are decked out with red, white and blue bunting, and flags  swaying in the breeze. Fireworks dazzle us from everyone’s yard (yes it’s illegal in Iowa, but you would never know!), and kids run through the grass with sparklers in hand. Then there is the fragrant smells of the BBQ grill that entice everyone and make your stomach ache for meal time. To finish it off, my family ALWAYS has homemade ice cream after a BBQ. It’s a must!

It’s days like this when you look around, and think of how thankful we are to have our freedom. There are brothers from my hometown that have served in the military and serve proudly with the Walnut, IA American Legion. One of them has three sons that have all served in the military, with one of them having attended West Point. They are probably the most patriotic people I know. That is why when they asked us to make them vinyl barn quilts, I knew what they would want. They had to be red, white, and blue!

Now a traditional barn quilt is either painted directly on the barn or shed, or it is painted on a square piece of plywood then hung on the barn. We decided to take them a step further. We do not use plywood which can rot and deteriorate quickly. We use sign grade material for our backing which will last much longer. Then we cover it with a laminated, printed vinyl design of your choice. Having the printed option allows you to be less traditional. You can add family names, special dates, or pictures if you want. It is much easier to make it your own and unique. Plus, depending on the conditions your quilt will be facing, it will last longer than a painted barn quilt.

We would love to help you bring out your patriotism! Visit our website at http://www.rosecitysigniowa.com for ideas, or give us a call at 800-316-9122. If you are not quite sure what it is you want, we can help. We have a great graphic designer to help you with your creative needs!
